Free Best Man Wedding Speeches

by Alex Thornton on April 24, 2010

To all of our faithful blog readers, I thought that I would post some free best man wedding speeches that you can use right now.

This first free best man speech would be delivered by a friend. As you can tell it has a lighthearted tone with humor that is appropriate for a wedding.

As best man, my first order of duty is to respond to the toast from bridesmaids. These ravishing gals did a marvelous job today and provided (bride) with all their love and support. Ancient tradition states that the bridesmaids need to also pamper the best man with love and kisses. I’d hate to break with tradition!

I’ve known (groom) since (enter time) our first day of secondary school. In all that time, he has never called me anything remotely close to the best man or actually anything even slightly complimentary. Nonetheless we’re friends for a reason – because he’s a good man, and (bride) is lucky to be spending the rest of her life with him.

When (groom) told me that he was marrying (bride), I thought, ‘That’s awesome, free drinks!’ When he asked me to be his best man, I thought, ‘Oh, no, time to flee the country!’ But I didn’t. Why? Because I couldn’t disown, my best friend could I?

I remember when (groom) and I were in the same biology class and he was a tad confused about the birds and the bees. He asked me why any bird would want to date a bee. Similarly, I would bet that some of you are wondering what on earth someone as beautiful as (bride) would not only date but marry good ol’ (groom). The reason is (groom) is a kind, generous friend who can not do enough for those he cares about – that includes visiting his ailing grandmother every weekend, and helping his younger brother with his (name a subject – eg – economics) projects. Thankfully, he doesn’t help (name of sibling) with his biology homework. (Groom) has always been there for me, and I’d like to thank him for everything he’s ever done for all of us.

(Groom), you’re a good man and you deserve the best. With (bride), you’ve got it, and I wish you all the happiness in the world. (Groom) is looking especially cheerful today and I can appreciate why. He is marrying the girl he loves and she in turn, is marrying a perfect gentleman. (Groom) will undoubtedly blush when I say this – but he’s the most genuine and loyal person I know. He deserves the blessing that is a loving wife like (bride).

Before we get to the toast and I think I deserve a drink I would like to read out a few letters from some people who missed out on the festivities. These poor people have missed the best wedding that I’ve ever been to, and clearly (bride’s) family have gone to great lengths to ensure that we have a first-class day out.

(read letters from absent guests)

Those are some great letters from people who really care about you, and I know wish you the greatest happiness. Ladies and gentlemen please raise your glasses to our absent guests who are with us in spirit only.
