This is a sample wedding speech delivered by the older brother who is also the best man. In the following example, the best man is also a friend of the bride.

This sample speech is sincere, nostalgic but not not overly nostalgic, and has a tinge of sweetness.

“Hello ladies and gentleman! I’d like to personally welcome you to our adventure today. I am the older brother of  Eric, and a good friend of his new bride Rachelle.

If you have any younger siblings yourself, you most likely have a pretty good idea of how I’m feeling right now. It’s kind of shocking to see my little brother all grown up. Look at him decked out in his tux – it’s a far cry from the first twenty years of his life where he only wore track pants. However, somewhere in depth of my head he’s still the little kid constantly wanting to borrow my new skateboard, stealing my favorite baseball cards, or asking to tag along with all my friends.

Then one day out of the blue he was suddenly in college and hanging out with me in the bar, constantly asking me to introduce him to all the prettiest girls I knew. I should note that there was one particular friend of mine he was always pestering me to meet, and yes, her name was Rachelle. Well, finally I gave in and introduced him to one of the most beautiful, bighearted, fun ladies I knew, and here we are today, and he’s actually marrying her.

Once I saw Eric and Rachelle together, I knew that I’d performed a bit of accidental magic. Immediately, they just had a huge spark that was greater than anything I’d seen. So, I have to admit this one time and this one time only… Eric, buddy, you were right. I did do the right thing by introducing the two of you. I suppose it’s one occasion where your badgering really did work out for the better.

I’m really excited that I do have the chance to be here today celebrating the marriage of two of the most important people in my life – my little brother, and my good friend Rachelle. Eric and Rachelle really do bring out the best in each other, supporting each other in the rough times, pushing each other closer and closer to their potential, and cheering each other on as well.

Eric, I hope you take care of this wonderful lady, who looks absolutely stunning tonight I might add, and Rachelle, I know you’ll bless my little brother every single day with your sparkling smile and your huge heart.

So, today I’d like all of you to join me and raise your glasses to this happy couple, Eric and Rachelle. I wish the both of you the best of luck together in the future. May this beautiful and happy day only be the start of all the wonderful days that you’ll share together in the future!”
